Dr. Sofia Kalkstein
Dr. Sofia Kalkstein was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Staten Island as a young child. She moved to Colorado to complete her undergraduate studies in Biology and received her DVM from Colorado State University in 1995. After graduation she returned to the East Coast, but the mountains called her back to Colorado where she lived and practiced in the Front Range for many years. In 2019, she left Colorado again and returned east to be with family, but again, the mountains called her back, and she is now residing in Boulder with her two daughters and son as well as a Chihuahua named Gordy, (a parvo survivor) and her cat Willow, who is a bottle-fed baby found with her umbilical cord still attached.
In her years as a veterinarian, she has owned her own practice, worked as an emergency room doctor in a specialty hospital and did a residency in Pathology. Her interests include preventative and geriatric care, anesthesia, dentistry, challenging internal medicine and dermatology cases, as well as behavior, surgery, and exotic medicine.
Away from the hospital, Dr. Sofia enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors. She is so excited to be a part of the Boulder community and is looking forward to meeting you and your pet babies soon.
